Minnesota’s estimated budget surplus is expected to be about $2.4 billion over the next two years, according to a new state estimate, but a shortfall could be on the horizon.The Office of Management and Budget on Wednesday said the projected revenue surplus for 2024-2024 has grown by $808 million since the end of the 2023 legislative session — a trend officials said was due in part to higher expected consumer spending and corporate profit growth.But higher expenses expected down the road on health and human services and educational spending will raise total spending in the years 2024-2027, resulting in a negative structural balance, the agency said Wednesday.An exact figure for the potential shortfall was not immediately available Wednesday morning, but the Office of Management and Budget is releasing a complete series of its most recent budget and economic forecast Wednesday afternoon.Minnesota in recent years had a series of record projected surpluses, which reached a record in Fe...Rabid dog at large in Fulton County

DUANESBURG, N.Y. (NEWS10) - All westbound lanes of I-88 have been reopened after a truck carrying natural gas crashed off the highway. The eastbound lanes remain closed. Police allowed some traffic to pass westbound in the area late Tuesday night.On Tuesday morning, a box truck carrying multiple cylinders of compressed natural gas went off the roadway around 2:52 a.m. It happened in between exits 24 and 25. The crash was serious enough to close down all lanes of traffic on the highway. It also prompted a response from Governor Kathy Hochul. Redondo Union High School was closed Wednesday after a student reportedly brought a gun onto the campus Tuesday, one day after another student was arrested for doing the same thing.The school went on lockdown Tuesday morning when authorities received a report of a weapon on campus sometime before 9:30 a.m., based on a message apparently sent to parents by school officials. 42-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Nelson RoadRIO HONDO, TX (December 6, 2023) – Jorge Villanueva died Thursday morning in a head-on collision on FM 106, just east of Nelson Road.At approximately 10:11 a.m., emergency services were dispatched to the location just east of Nelson Road.According to reports, the operator of a brown Chevrolet Silverado made an attempt to overtake another vehicle while traveling in the eastbound direction on FM106. Subsequently, the Chevrolet swerved into the westbound lanes, colliding with an approaching Saturn Outlook.The driver of the Saturn was pronounced dead at the accident site.
